Registration

Please register for the course and exam in TUMonline.

Moodle

In the Moodle course we will post exercise sheets. Please upload your SSH public key until Thursday Oct. 9, 14:00 in the Moodle course. This allows you to take part in the exercise and later the project. You will get access to your git repository with your SSH key.

Project

Details of the project will be announced at a later time.

Exam

The written exam took place on February 5, 2015 from 10:30 - 11:30 in the room MI HS 1.

The resit exam will take place on April 13, 2015 from 17:30 - 18:30 in room 2501 (Physik HS 1).

All students who want to participate at the exam need to register for the exam in TUMonline.

If you successfully completed the project, the earned credits of the project are added to your exam result.

The final grade is calculated as follows:

final_grade = grade(your_points_in_the_exam + (30%_of_max_points_in_the_exam * your_points_in_the_project / max_points_in_the_project)) + exercise_bonus

The exercise_bonus improves the grade by 0.3 if you successfully completed the exercises and 50% or more points in the project. If you successfully completed all but one single exercise you will be able to still get the bonus by doing an additional exercise at the end.

Note: Passing the final exam, i.e. getting a grade of 4.0 or better without any bonus, is a necessary condition to get the exercise bonus as well as the project bonus.

The conditions and extent of the bonus are not yet set in stone and might be subject to change.

Exercises

IMPORTANT: Please upload your SSH public key until Thursday Oct. 9, 14:00 in the Moodle course.

Students are encouraged to participate at the exercises. This will benefit your exam preparation and furthermore you will get a 0.3 grade bonus if your participation at the exercises as well as the project (>50% of points achieved) is successful. To successfully participate at the exercises each submitted solution needs 1 point on average for each task.

Points for the tasks are given in the following way:

  • 2 points: the initial submission is already good and no correction was necessary.
  • 1 point: the initial submission was not completely correct but still sensible. The student corrected the solution.
  • 0 points: none of the above applies.

Every two weeks new exercises will be published on Tuesday. The students have until Tuesday 10:00 CET to complete the exercises and submit them. On this Tuesday a sample solution will be presented during the exercise tutorial (which will take place instead of the lecture). All students are expected to submit a corrected version, where they amend any discrepancies in their initial submission. This correction has to be submitted until the following Friday 10:00 CET. See the table below for an example with concrete dates.
