Overlay Measurement Dirk Haage

We conduct measurements in overlay networks. This includes the typical traffic and connection parameters as well as topological information. Interesting questions are: What kind of information can be obtained by passive monitoring? Where do we need active measurement? Do we need support from the underlay? What is useful for optimizing and operate overlays? This research is strongly related to SpoVNet project.

Passive Network Monitoring Gerhard Münz, Lothar Braun

Passive network monitoring refers to techniques for observing and measuring packets and packet flows in a network without inserting new packets or manipulating the existing traffic. Our research focuses on advanced monitoring mechanisms such as rule-based flow aggregation and the dynamic configuration of monitoring probes. We also contribute to the IPFIX and PSAMP standardization at the IETF.
